Jalie project done

So, if I set my mind to it I can get it done, here is Cory wearing the shirt I just made for him!!!!

New Projects

I've got a bunch new projects under way! First is a Jalie pattern for men 2328, I'm making Cory a thermal shirt. Second I'm makig Khaliah Ali Collection, pattern # 2336 from Simplicity. In this collection I'm making A shirt, pants and jacket, unfortantly the pants will not match anything but, thant's ok, I need a pair of pants to run around in. My wardrobe is really lacking style right now, I need a few pieces to help bump it up.

Denim Rug

You can see the back side of the rug with all the lines for were all the denim rectangle pieces were sewn.

Denim Rug

This rug is finished, but you can see the rows of rectangles sewn to the big piece of denim. I ssewed them about 3/4 of an inch from each row(you'll be able to tell better in the next picture). The rugs fluff up after you wash them and the boys think they look awsome in their rooms.

Denim Rug

I started sewing the rectangles to the top of the bottom of the rug. As I sewed them down I was over lapping them by a 1/4 inch.

Denim rug

On the edges of the bottom denim, I folded over twice and sewes them. I now have the  bottom of the rug that will not ravel.

Denim rug

this is a bin with cut up rectangles of denim, my husband and kids we're throwing out their old jeans (yes, they were all holey), so I couldn't throw them away and decided to make ruge for the boys room, I did not want to go out and buy any.

sewing the rugs

Sorry it took me so long to get the pictures posted but the computer, printer and camera did'nt want to work.this is the beginning, this how big the underside of the rug is going to be, and yes it's denim.

Snow

I'm so glad I'm off from work today and tomorrow. Lots of snow fell this morning and I didn't go to bed until 7am this morning.  As for sewing I'm going to try and get it done today, I have a few projects that I'm working on; my oldest son's jeans, a pair of jeans for me, a dress for my niece, toys, and other clothing. We'll see what happens today.

computer problems

Well, the computer decided to take a dumped and between Scott and I we we're able to fix it....who knows how long it will last. I'm hoping till at least the end of the year till I can get a new one! I'm still working on the printer and picture issue...I ordered a new disk for the printer and I'm hoping that will solve the printer and photo issues. So, I'm working tonight and I'm off tomorrow and thursday, and with the pending snow storm I'll be glad to be stuck in the house. I'll be sewing away and noone to bother me, well, I'll tell them not to bother me.

Old Jeans=New Rugs 2

Ok, so I go to plug my camera into the computer to download pictures and it won't let me, I go to use the printer and it won't let me. I spent 6 hours at 2 drs. this morning and afternoon and now I'm just tired. So tomorrow is a new day and I'll be fixing all the computer stuff and finishing with the drs. at 10am. I can't wait to get back home after that and start sewing again.

Old Jeans=New Rugs

So today my two boys (Cory -21 and Brandon 16) decided to tell me that they wanted new rugs for their rooms(the entire house is hardwood or tiled floors). I told them someday.....well, someday has arrived! My husband decided that after a years worth of beating his jeans up it was time to get rid of them. He set them on a chair for me and told me....here you go...do something with them!!!! Well, I'm doing just that!!!! I remembered reading about rag rugs and using old denim jeans, well, now I'm cutting the jeans and next I'm cutting them into 1x2 rectangles and then I'm going to cut out a long piece of denim for the backing. Then I'm going to sew the strips of denim to the long denim backing piece.....I'll post pictures as I go through the process.

Sew Vintage with The 1912 Project - Threads

I've taken on a whole new project with my sewing to learn about the past . I've always told myself I was born in the wrong era. I've decided to sew vintage with the  "Sew Vintage 1912 Project".Historical costumers and those who just love sewing vintage and antique patterns may be interested to learn about the Vintage Pattern Lending Library’s(VPLL) The 1912 Project. I can't wait to get started on this. This project will be very fun!
